FCP 6 to AE CS4 color shift with DVCPro footage

I saw another thread on here regarding this but it was a bit dated to an older version of AE.

Is there a solid solution to this problem now? I'm at a small post house that is dealing with this. Does checking the 'legacy' box in Project settings fix it? Would converting the footage to ProRes 422 eliminate the problem?

Thanks.

Are you using color management? Check out Adobe's white paper on color management (including some real-world scenarios):

I don't have FCP 6 or AE CS4 here, but DVCPRO HD roundtrips without gamma shift with FCP 7 and AE CS5.

If you are rendering to the animation codec from AE, you will probably have to manually set the gamma of the clip to 2.2 in FCP. Select the clip in FCP, hit Cmd-9 for item properties, find "Gamma Level" on the "Format" tab, right click where it says "Source" and change it to 2.2.
