Hi guys,

I'm new here and I'm hoping I can find some help to my problem.

It's hard to explain, so I'll use an example. Say I wanted to build some fairy lights. I'd have a wire, with lights attached at certain points along it and when my wire would move, the lights would move with it.

That's what I'm after. I want to have a path that I can animate and with it I want some emitters to adhere to it's position.

I can't for the life of me find a way to do it. Frustratingly enough the feature is easily achievable with letters on text path options.

Is there something devastatingly simple that I'm missing somewhere?

if i understand what you are after, i think you could simply duplicate your particle system layer and offset it in the timeline.

another method that would do the same thing would be to precomp the particle system (move all attributes), then add the echo effect with an offset and number of 'echoes' that is needed -- this method is pretty rigid, each echo will be offset with the exact same time offset.

Hi Kevin,

I think I know what you're getting at. Thanks but I'm not after a trail of one pathed motion if that's what you mean.

My plan is to end up with a tendril of light, that can be waved around in 3D space. It'd be even simpler still I suppose if particular could use a whole path as an emitter. Maybe that's the answer I'm blindly missing or something.

Will Trapcode 3D Stroke [link] do what you need?

That looks like it just might solve all my problems.
