Just curious if anyone knew of any tutorials on how to create a globe similar to the one used in the Zombieland logo?

I have several still and video elements I would like to bend around a globe similar to the logo. Mine would not be the dead planet look and feel but the general idea of placing elements around a mini world is the same.

Is this technique called something in particular?

cc sphere will wrap a layer into a sphere. ideally the layer will be 2x as wide as high and seamless (particularly at the poles).

to get a quick idea of how that might work, create a new layer (800x400) add the grid effect and then add cc sphere.

so that could give you the base sphere. then you'd need to add the other keyed elements around the sphere. making them 3d layers and positioning and rotating them so they looked natural.

if you really wanted to make this 3d and be able to move around the globe (or spin the globe) you'd need a 3d app and 3d models of your elements that you could deform to mold them around a sphere.
