Hi

I'm working on some motion graphics for a corporate film and am animating a scene, as seen out of a window. I am using After Effects 7. Please can you advise me on different ways of suggesting the viewer is looking at the out of a window without getting to complex i.e. reflecting the viewer's face, and without losing the bright palette which is part of the design brief.

Could you also advise me on how to add a sun!!! Should I just use a light?

Sorry if these are a bit basic. I hope you can help.

Thanks

T

Sun:
1- use a lens fare (Knoll or Optical Flares are best)
2- White disk with yellowish glow and lens flare on top
If u got movement- track and apply track data

For Window glass effect- use a light beam type effect to create a lighter stripe on the glass surface. Search the Cow for tutorials on this- I remember a few on this subject.

You'll need a window frame and something reflected in the glass. The light stripe is good, but it might have to move.

You might get into some discussions here with the client. Sometimes somebody gets a concept in his or her head ("through a window!"), but they need to be ready to make the sacrifices necessary for the effect: a frame and reflections, for example. Sometimes a moving camera with a reflection moving opposite to the outside scene helps sell the effect, but of course all of this competes with the scene outside. The client has to be willing to let the outside scene "share the stage" with the elements that suggest the window.
