I'd like to upgrade to AE CS5 but I have an "old" MacPro and I'm not sure if my Mac fits the system requirements. I've been trying to figure it out myself but it would be great to get advice from an expert.
I'm especially doubting my graphic card. I work with AE everyday. Will I benefit from upgrading ?

MacPro 1,1
2x3Ghz DualCore Intel Xeon
4 cores
12Gb RAM
OSX Snow Leopard
NVIDIA GeForce 7300 GT VRAM 256mb

If you do a forum search for graphic card you will find that the overwhelming majority of people (including Adobe employees who post here) say that AE benefits very little, if at all, from a powerful graphics card. Premiere? Yes. AE? No.
More RAM, on the other hand, will help a whole lot. Get more of it.

3D apps like a fancy graphics card, and Apple's Color and Motion require one. However, AE, as Michael wrote, not so much. As the Dutch guy says, "save your money".

... or yes, spend it on RAM, a good monitor, or a really good ergonomic chair.

You are correct Michael. You'll benefit more from CPU power and greater quantities of RAM in AE.
