Ivo Dimovhow to position multiple images to coordinates?
by on Sep 27, 2010 at 12:03:56 am

Hello everyone,

I usually give my best to find out the answers by myself but I`m having a difficult time with this one:

I`m creating a video of a map. The map itself is a simple image. I have a Null object and a Camera connected to the null. The Null changes its Position, Scale and Orientation and thus it creates the feeling that the viewer is floating over a 3D map.
My problem is putting the names of the cities to stay at their precise places and still stay at 90 degrees towards the screen (as 2D).
If i put them in the composition where the 2d image of the map is located - normally, they look flat sticking on the layer surface when the Null is changing its properties and thus I loose the effect.
If I put them in the comp where my null is - they look perfect but I cant find a way to position them right.
I hope you understand me...

Thank you for your time and suggestions!

You can set the layers in 3d space and set them to auto orient towards the camera.
Or, if you want to go a bit more, try this technique.
