I'm trying to key some footage which has a white background. Using a luma key isn't cutting it, so I wanted to try and use Keylight.

Unfortunately Keylight isn't working on pure white. If I try another color in the clip it works fine, but as soon as I select the white background it won't key at all.

Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Keylight isn't for keying white. Keylight is for keying colors, especially blue and green.

Keying against white works only under a limited number of circumstances. For example, if you want to key Darth Vader holding a black cat, you can probably get away with it.

Otherwise, it becomes a complex mix of effects, masking and rotoscoping. Keying against white is a very bad idea.
