So I have two 3D layers that spin on the Y axis and in After Effects they spin normally. However, when I render they look like they're spinning off axis as if it was on the Z and Y axis? Why does it do this?

[Ben Mettler] "Why does it do this?"

I'll take a guess and say it's because you have Open GL turned on to accelerate renders. Turn it off and see what happens.

Open GL, while a nifty idea, isn't always what's best to use in AE.

Okay, next guess: you used a custom view to set up your 3D layers, you didn't check your comp using the Active Camera view, and the custom view was different from the camera in your comp.

Gotta watch out for that. It gets a lot of people. And no, you can't turn a custom view into a camera.

No, the two 3D layers are in the same comp as all the 2D ones. I made a whole new project trying the same thing and it still did it. I also went back to the original and turned off Motion Blur thinking that might throw things off, but it's still doing the same thing. It's strange. I've run into this in the past, but just left it alone. It spins fine in AE, so I'm not sure where it's messing with the axis?

Oh, I bet you have 2D layers mixed in with 3D layers. That's a bad idea, unless you know what you're doing. It can really screw things up.

Time to start figuring out what to do with those 2D layers: most of the time, simply clicking on the 3D switch on a 2D layer doesn't hurt anything.
