Reversing Preset Effect

Im using AE CS5. Is there a way to reverse a preset? i.e if there is a certain fade in effect when an object is introduced on the timeline - is there a way to make it do the exact opposite after the object disappears? The preset Library doesn't have complimentary effects for all presets.

Sure: put the keyframes in the opposite order. It should work in the vast majority of cases.

Thanks. I'll try that - those are the keyframes with the bold dots - ive never fiddles with these. I thought that this should be a common operation, and have a setting somehwere to reverse it.

Hmmmm..... knowing how to use keyframes is one of the most fundamental things in AE. Just so you don't overlook anything cool that you can do with AE, I recommend you look the following over VERY carefully:
