Is it possible to interpret keyframes?
on Aug 12, 2010 at 10:58:12 am

I have a clip in AE with a frame rate of 29.97 and several layers containing masks and numerous keyframes. However the original footage needs to be interpreted to 24fps. Is there a way to also interpret the layers so that the keyframes on the masks fit and the extra keyframes are somehow deleted?

Thanks

Sorry, no. You'll have to move those keyframes around.

When you work in AE, one of the first things you do is establish the frame rate. It's not an afterthought, because it's too darned difficult to change horses in the middle of the stream.

Speaking of frame rates, I presume you know that 29.97 footage conformed to 23.976 will run a tiny bit slower than originally.

Thanks for replying. I usually do make sure the footage is at the correct frame rate before anything else. This happened as a result of a bit of a breakdown in communication with the client. We seem to have resolved the issue using the time stretch option though.

Thanks again

maybe another option was timewarp or twixtor your final render so that the framerate changed but not the speed. just a thought.
