There is a tool in Smoke called "Compound" that merges a given number of frames in a sequence into a smaller given number of frames. I use this to create single stills from a few seconds of video.

Does anyone know if a similar tool exists in AE, or Nuke?

Regards, Jake

Hi Chris,

Sorry I wasn't very clear.

I am trying to merge 100 frames into one single frame. Please see this example still which was made from 100 frames of 16mm film.

Many thanks, Jake

Perhaps the Echo effect will do what you need?
