I am not very Illustrator savvy. How can I take a few different paths from Illustrator and convert them into one mask in AE?

Sorry, it really doesn't work that way, when you select all and copy, then tab over to AE and paste, it brings all the paths and makes them separate because it sees all the paths, some are intersecting and some are probably not closed. You'd have to make it one path in Illus and then it will see one path in AE. Is there anyway you can make it one path?

Reality? What did you make it?

Depending on what you're doing, you may not even NEED to make one mask. For example, you may be using the layer with all the illustrator paths as a track matte. I wouldn't think you would have to do anything to it.
