ok, as im fairly new to all the features and techniques with after effects im a bit lost with how to do this bit.

i want to apply a yellow tint color over the footage without having to mix all the colors up to get yellow.

i thought it was adding a mask, then i thought adding layer, then i thought rotobrush and then i gave up lol.

There are a bunch of ways to do this.
Here's one:
Add a yellow solid layer above your footage.
Change the mode of the solid layer to multiply.

If you want to advance your AE skills you need to understand the fundamentals of the program.

  • Create an adjustment layer. Make it the top layer.
  • Add the Tint effect to it.
  • Change the white chip to yellow.
  • Adjust the slider at the bottom to taste.

And Gary's right: if you're asking questions like this, you're jumping into the deep end of the pool, but you don't know how to swim. He links to a great resource. Here's some free stuff, too:

Read EVERYTHING. Check out the links. Very helpful stuff there.

Fair enough but 'Tint' is the one you want. Short of that stick an adjustment layer on the top and throw some 'curves' on it. I'd still go with tint though.....

If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't the sport for you.
