hello there people!
I am facing a little problem that I'm sure is nothing for you skilled postproducers:
I'm working on an animation using 2d image, like drawn with black line and color filled.

In the scene there is also a lens flare (on a black layer in screen mode) so it's actually working but it's lighting the black line of the character, I guess it's hard to figure it out while reading but trust me the effect is not convaincing at all!

Anayway do you guys have any idea about how to have the flare to lighten only the colors part of the imge under its layer and not the black parts), this would help me big time
Regards to all of you

most likely the black outline can be isolated with an alpha matte.
duplicate the footage, add a channel-shift with alpha set to lightness in the dup. below that effect, add level individual controls with alpha set to input black and input white tweaked to isolate the blackest parts of the image.

since you now have a clean outline, the alpha will only give glows to the colorful, bright areas fixing your problem.

Thank you for this.
I tried quickly without success but I will retry and I will succeed!
