I work for a media company that creates localized content for various locations around the country. Up to now, this would require an editor or graphics artist to sit down and create 20 or 30 different versions of a lower third, slate, etc, to match the localized content requirement.
In a previous life, I worked at a company that had an automated AE system running. The template included variable text fields, along with a script to kick off a render when new data appeared. What I don't understand is what method was used to populate the text fields, which is what I need to do in this situation.
I'm trying to understand a good method to do the following:
- Read a database/CSV/XML file containing the data to populate the text fields and template to use
- Open the desired template, populate the text fields
- Kick off a render with a proper name and render settings
- Notify user when render is complete.
I recently pointed another poster to CompsFromSpreadsheet -- a script that uses tab-delimited files to drive text inserts and footage inserts.
Separately, AE has a render and email script that ships with the program.
