French Accents

Hello,

We have to do a French Canadian version of an instructional video we have produced. Does anyone know if we need a special keyboard, or any kind of a plug in to do the text in AE?

Thanks

Dave

Have you tried contacting the CBC? Those guys deal with French & English characters every day, and I bet they even run After Effects!

You should be fine. We used to do French Canadian spots here all the time and there never was an accent mark that came up that wasn't a regular mac shortcut.
Best,
Joey

Any good font will include accented versions of the letters.

Here's a support doc for adding accents to characters on Mac OS X; here's one for adding accents to characters on Windows XP and later.

Just a note with French -- the accent aigu and the accent grave look similar, but have different uses, so take care when transcribing.

I found it best to get a text doc from the localization service, allowing me to cut and paste the text into AE. It's faster that way, and there are no concerns about capitalization and such.

I like that idea. We have an office in Montreal so I'll see if they can do all the graphics up as word docs.

Thanks

Dave
