I have been searching for a tutorial on how to create particles that look similar to rain that would fall from the camera view (view from above). I am unable to find a tutorial that doesn't include expensive plug ins. Can anyone help me with this? Here is an example of what I am looking for, however I do not require as high of detail as shown here because this tutorial uses the tradecode particular plug in. http://rhys-works.com/vfx-tutorials/rain-over-water-tutorial

Any help would be appreciated, many thanks!

Well- you did not look hard enough it seems- you have on the same site a great tutorial that explains how to do particles with expressions in AE, no extra plug-ins required:

Also, a lot of stuff you do with Particular can be done with CC Particle World which comes free with AE.
