Number Counter for Digital Calculator read out

I have a conundrum - I'm wondering how to animate the digital readout of a calculator to show a number count starting at zero and going to a very high number (enough to take up however many number slots there are).

So I used a script I found on the forums, and it works great to do that functionality only, however, is it possible to somehow combine it with a way to keep the number slots "rigid" ? as in when it's counting up it won't keep shrinking when it hits a thinner number. Because to keep it realistic the calculator only has a defined slot for each number...

I thought about somehow combining it with the odometer effect and offset, but I don't know how to script that easily.

Any thoughts?

I bet you'd be good to go if you chose a typeface that does NOT use proportional spacing.

Although I haven't checked, there might be a way to turn off proportional spacing in AE's Text, too.

aah, such a simple solution, thank you! I'll check into this proportional spacing thing in AE, too.

The easiest way would be to use a monospace font.

Is there a reason you're using a script rather than Effect>Text>Numbers?

[Michael Szalapski] "Is there a reason you're using a script rather than Effect>Text>Numbers? "

I think the OP wants figures larger that the 30,000 (I think) limit in the Numbers effect.
