I'm SURE this is on the cow somewhere! I think my problem is I don't know the name for that center margin / gutter tab thingie. I've always done it by lining up separate text boxes next to each other, but it is time I learned to do it the right way, as my current assignment involves a lot of going back and forth. Anybody know how to do it...

- in After Effects?

- in Word (Yup, I've got a word document here from a client once removed, created with a nice center gutter created somehow using tabs, but I sure as heck am unable to recreate it when I try to revise this master doc.)

Thank you somebody for your help!

Can you set a left justify and right justify for two different tab positions? I haven't tried this, but thought it might work if allowed in AE.

Ah, thank you. I am able to do that in Illustrator (and Word, it turns out). In illustrator if you hit CTRL-SHIFT-T you get a tabs bar. (I don't see it in the menu, but this seems essential!) So question: Is there a way to access tabs for text in After Effects?

If you know how to do it in Illustrator, you should probably just do it there. Long credit scrolls are usually easier to deal with in Illustrator anyway, plus you get way better control of the formatting.

Welp, since I posted this, I've learned how to do it in Word for the master doc, and Illustrator for AE. That's leap forward, considering I've done millions of gutters brute force in the past. Just emailed the post house where I'll be generating these in a sit-down, and they don't have Illustrator :(
