Film Flicker Effect?

I'm looking to simulate a film flicker effect, not over the top and cheesy.

I figured the best way to go about it would be with a strobe effect, but I can't seem to get the right numbers for the duration and period?

Any suggestions?

I'm shooting on a Panasonic TM300, 60 fps (interlaced)

Why not add a wiggle expression to the opacity of a black solid. For more control you can add expression control sliders and tie your wiggle numbers to them.

create a black solid then create a hold key frame on the opacity with a value of 0 then after 3 frames change the opacity to 80 then after 3 frames change it to 0 you will notice that all key frames is a hold key frame because we want the opacity to be flicking rather than fading in and out .

after that Press Alt + Click on the opacity stopwatch and write the loop expression

LoopOut(Type="cycle")

and that's it if this not help please inform me

I see your post on another forum received a similar answer as well as a sample project file!

Thanks! I completely forgot about the loop expression, that's perfect because it gives me complete control. A wiggle expression was my first idea, but I realized it wouldn't be a consistent flicker.
