I am a new user and I am working on a file previously exported from Premiere at 29.97 with lower fields first but when I import into After effects, it is interpreted as 29.969. I've done the effects necessary but when I rendered the file it was no longer in sync with the original track and didn't fit in it's slot in after effects (either a bit longer or shorter). Is there a way to fix this?

If the problem is jsut that the footage item's frame rate is being interpereted incorrectly, then you can change that yourself. See this page for instructions.
