ram previews are stopping short
on Mar 17, 2010 at 11:42:50 am

Hi All,

Im having a real annoying problem, whenever i ram preview the end of my comp it doesnt actually get to the end of the work area, it stops short.

I was using multi processing but it kept saying the old "unable to render multiple frames".

So i kicked it down a gear to not use multi processing, and still no luck,

No dialogue appears it just stops short... Never had this problem before

Help! (please :-) )

Are you running a program in the background? After Effects has problems sharing memory.

It sounds like you're simply bumping into the same limits EVERYONE bumps into: RAM Previews in AE use all the memory available, and your RAM filled up before the end of the comp.

You can use an entire litany of ways to overcome that limitation, all of which are described in AE's online help: trim the work area, preview every other frame, preview at half-resolution, preview only part of your frame.

You may not like doing that, but hey -- everyone's had to do it. It's simply part of working with AE.
