Paste and Preset

I am a fellow star wars fan that is trying to form a signficant video that involves After Effects LightSaber by Andrew Kramer. Andrew instructs me to copy and paste the file that he provides at his tutorial in the effects and preset directory. I have a trial version of After Effects that states it can't import his file. It says the file is an unsupported filetype or extension. What do I do? Please help!

You get the real version of After Effects, that's what.

AE's tryout version is meant for just that: tryout. You can see how the interface works. You can get an idea of how how to uses masks, expressions, layers, blend modes, 3D, text, etc. It's not intended to create a major opus for free, so you don't get any bundled third-party plugins or presets... and I'm pretty sure it doesn't support them if you try to install them, either.
