i'm doing after effects projects in a small production company
and recently i've been asked to make some kind of looping video
of videos circling a logo, now i have no problem with the graphics
the only issue is that it's supposed to be running on a huge screen

i told my boss i should just make it 1920x1080
and they should find a way to project it bigger
but he insists that i work with the measurements he was given

it doesn't make sense to me to work on a comp this size
+ i'm using renders from c4d

appreciate the help

correct me if im wrong, but isnt that 4k RED resolution?

If you didn't supply enough information I will start making assumptions. I'm usually wrong when I assume.

you just have to know about the projector's resolution.(1920x1080 , 1024x768, 800x600 , 2048x1536 whatever) If it is HD supported projector make your project in HD. If it supports more resolution 2K or 4K , open your comp project in 2K or 4K and then render. If the video will be aired on multiple monitors, you have to know about that hardware. But in my opinion HD or 2K is enough.

Always cinema...

wonder what projector it will be.
as far as i know only Sony and JVC make a projector's that can project
resolution's this high.

SONY SRXT = 4096 x 2160
JVC ILA = 4096x2400

i guess more important is how it will be playbacked.
and maybe processed.(Spyder or Encore if it is a multiprojector edgeblended project)

also viewing distance is a issue in how far you must go whit your resolution.

People saying they don't make mistake's often make nothing at all!

As the other posters have mentioned, resolutions of this size are possible with 4K equipment, video or LED walls, or blended projection.

I'd suggest you inquire about the playback system, and find out more about the delivery specs, as there are many variables. Is the pixel space seamless, or are there display bevels or gaps to account for? What frame rate? What container? What codec? A single, full-raster file, or pre-split slices of the image?
