So i have a really strange issue that i've never run into before. please click the link to see the video footage. but i will try to explain. i have green screen footage. i have keyed, and then masked the footage. on two particular clips the right side of the mask is effects the final output of the footage on the left. so there is a green 1 pixel edge across the left side, and it is obviously linked to the mask because when i move the mask the pixel line moves exactly with the mask point im adjusting. please see video link if possible. thank!

Got the free upgrade to AE 9.02? Get it.
Using Open GL? Don't.

And here's what I REALLY think it is. The edges on that key lead me to believe you shot this in HDV... and it's probably still in the acquisition codec. So read on...

Dave's Stock Answer #1:

If the footage you imported into AE is any kind of the following -- footage in an HDV acquisition codec, MPEG1, MPEG2, AVCHD, mp4, m2t, H.261 or H.264 -- you need to convert it to a different codec.

These kinds of footage use temporal, or interframe compression. They have keyframes at regular intervals, containing complete frame information. However, the frames in between do NOT have complete information. Interframe codecs toss out duplicated information.

In order to maintain peak rendering efficiency, AE needs complete information for each and every frame. But because these kinds of footage contain only partial information, AE freaks out, resulting in a wide variety of problems.

the footage is all rendered out with pro res codec. i have the most recent version of AE and i toggled openGL on and off with no success. i have several sequences, about 12... there are 2 that are doing this. or as far as i can tell there are two.

[James Buran] "the footage is all rendered out with pro res codec. "

That's irrelevant. What is the codec of this chroma key footage when it's in AE? If it's any of those mentioned above, change it.

its pro res codec as stated in the previous post

"[James Buran] "the footage is all rendered out with pro res codec. " Rendered out of FCP not AE

i never rendered out of AE due to the problem and would have been animation codec if it was.

the problem as it turns out was related to the inside mask and outside mask attribute within the Keylight effect. it had to be set to none. it was picking up the mask that was used to crop out the additional non-greenscreen background.
