Fixing several radio towers onto a "3d" rotating globe

I am trying to create a 3d rotating globe in AE- I know I can do this with Kurt's example or use 3d Invigorator to extrude a vector sphere and then maybe map the earth onto the object. But what I am trying to figure out is- I want to add "radio towers" to various parts of the globe, and as the globe rotates, it will reveal the towers on various continents. How can I fix these towers onto the globe in AE?

well if you already have the globe made in AE, you could track the points of the area that you want the tower to be placed, be sure to do a few runs through, apply that to the tower under the tracking options on edit target and the radio tower should stay fixed on the track points, if you need help on tracking and dont understand it, there is a great tutorial under videocopilot's basic training, http://www.videocopilot.net

Assuming you want your radio towers in 3D, you could model them in 3D Invigorator along with your globe and position them in the scene at the appropriate points.

As Walter said, if you want them in 3d in AE only, you must model them in Invigorator. You can put your map of the globe on the globe and then map some metallic or simply grey substance onto the towers separately.

Or you could use a real 3d application to create the globe and towers and composite it onto the rest of your stuff with AE.
