Hi all,

so after placing a few sub-comps into a root comp, I realized that some comp markers on the sub-comps would help my keyframeing. So I went into each of the sub-comps and added some comp markers, but they are not appearing on the root comp. If I drag one of them to the root comp again, the marker shows up, but not on the already placed (and keyframed) sub-comps. I tried restarting, still nothing.

Im in AE7, could just be a bug for that version or am I doing something wrong?

Use the Replace Footage trick.
  • Highlight the precomp layer to be replaced in the main comp.
  • Highlight the precomp that will do the replacing in the Project window
  • Option-Drag it into the main comp... I guess it's alt-drag in windows-land.

Poof! The precomps with in with their newly-acquired markers. It's magic.

If you add a marker to the sub comp in the master comp (layer menu) then right click on the marker you will get a dialogue box with the option to update the markers.... the trick is to have a marker in the first place.... not very elegant, but it works.... probaly to late for you aaron, but it may help others
