No Brainstorm in AE CS3

I'm trying to access Brainstorm in CS3 but I'm having a small problem. I select effects in the effects control panel, hit the Brainstorm icon above the timeline, but I am not getting the Brainstorm popup. Something is happening, as AE is expecting keyboard input (I'm getting that noise when you press keys outside of a dialogue box) so I believe BS is activting, I'm just not seeing the nine-frame panel. I've tried various layouts including Default with no luck. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!
PS I just noticed, in the Info panel it says "Adding Folder
---Brainstorm Temp Folder---"
I waited to see if this was just a long process, like your first ram preview, but this doesn't seem to be the case. I've also tried deleting my prefs, still no luck.
