I've rendered out some Lightwave animation with a separate pass to export the z-buffer as RPFs.

What effect/process is used to use the depth buffer sequence as a controller to blur the rgb image?

Also, I note the project window lists the depth buffer files as having TRILLIONS (not millions) of colors-- what's up with that???

Check out the 3D Channel group of effects: there'll be something in there to fit the bill, I bet.

The "trillions of colors" reference is there because the file has more than the normal 8/8/8 bit depth for RGB. I'd bet it's 12 or 16 bits.
