Reverse Write On Effect?

I'm seen the following "write on effect" tutorial - http://library.creativecow.net/articles/hansen_jaysen/growing/video-tutoria...

Is there a way to do the reverse of this, where at the beginning the image is completely revealed and then over time it is covered up/masked? The image I'm doing this for is pretty complex so being able to trace it with the pen tool first would be ideal. I've tried "Time Reversing Keyframes" with the Write on Effect but then it just reveals my graphic the opposite direction. Any ideas? Thanks!

If you set the brush color to black, you can then use the result as a track matte (using Luma Matte) to 'cover' your original image.

AAaacccCCKK! Use any brush color as an Alpha Channel will be created regardless of the color. Write-on's Paint Style has to be set to Reveal Original Image

Then apply the Alpha Inverted track matte to your untouched original, using the Write-on layer as the source for the track matte.
