I'm designing a title with the shatter effect applied to give my title a slightly broken up and extruded feel. However I only want one frame of the shatter effect, yet I still want to keep the 3d. So I've created a precomp of my title with a camera, freezed the frame I want, collapsed transformations and set the layer to 3d.
I then parented the position, point of interested, and anchor point of my pre-compto the cam in my main comp and voila the camera responds and I've got full 3d - WOOHOO!

Except when I keyframe...

I set some keyframes and the pre-comp just doesn't respond - any ideas why?

Why don't you try to keep Shatter in the main comp instead of a precomp? You can use some of the other Shatter properties to freeze the action, and the effect will still have access to the comp camera.

Realised that yesterday - just upped the resistance and volia it's frozen on it's own and I can just use it in the main comp - thanks for you input!
