Hi, I'm doing a 150th anniversary (short)film and I want to have an animated sequential number representing sequential dates running on screen from October 11th 1859 to October 11th 2009 - over the duration of the film. I simply thought I could just use the the number effect but the maximum number of days is +/- 30000 ie from today that gets me 17th August 1927. I'd thought I could do it in two "takes" but I can't get back past 20th January 1904.
I'd also thought of using timecode (frame numbers) and simply masking the first two digits but I can't work out how to slow it down to match the duration of the film(2 minutes 40 secs)
Any ideas? other than 150 text layers!

You'll need an Expression on a text layer to do this. Perform a COW search or head over to the COW's AE Expression forum.

Good Luck
