timecode reading in after effects

Would be a ridiculous thing to be able to read timecode information in after effects?
Seems odd that a compositing application would not have this fairly basic and useful ability.

Sorry to disappoint but as far as I know, it doesn't. You can always submit a feature request to Adobe.

there is a script that can get the timecode from the footage. i've never used it, it is a command line utility and i think it only works on osx, but you can find it here:
