Darren Chan3d family tree

I'm interested in creating a 3d family tree with moving lines that branch off in several directions, coupled with pictures and footage. My idea is to track around the 3d space, following the lines which at times could be full screen, at times in the background, seen through a mesh of similar lines. Would anyone have any suggestions on how I can approach this in AE? Also, would Trapcode Strokes do the trick?

Thanks in advance.

3d stroke should do it. You could also used masked layers and animate the masks path shape or you could try a shape layer and animate the stroke value. There are quite a few ways and I'm sure there's many more I don't even know about.

The benefit of using 3d stroke would be that you could then rotate the camera AROUND the strokes as they animate on and not have them be revealed as flat layers ( hope that makes sense! )

Thanks Trevor. I'm downloading a try-out of 3d Stroke now to see what it can do - or rather see what I am capable of doing with it.

Many thanks
