I'm trying to get an effect that as far as I can see, nobody's yet asked about. The idea is that there's a pillow covered in heart-shaped petals, then something hits the pillow and the petals suddenly puff up, then drift slowly downwards.
So far I've been using a PNG of a heart. I've got an expression for a "leaf floating down"-type movement which looks quite nice, for the second part. But the upward "puff" movement has me a bit stumped. Any ideas? There should be a number of hearts so the movement needs to be easily randomised and multiplied.
Also, is it possible to apply expressions selectively? So, my solid would be stationary and only take on the expression at a certain point in the timeline.
I've tried using Trapcode Particular to get the puff-up effect, but it doesn't look quite right, and plus it's only a 2D plane in a 3D environment...
