Hello, I'm seeking guidance on doing the following:
I have a solid with the CC Snow effect on. I'd like to use a vector logo (Adobe Illustrator) to appear "in the snow". So, I imagine that I have to setup another copy of this logo to use as a mask, but set the depth to be in the snow.
If I were you I'd make four or five Snow layers. Turn on their 3d swatches and move them around in 3d space on their z-axis'. Keep in mind that you'll need to make the dimensions of those snow layers bigger than your composition dimensions because once you start pushing the layers to the back on the z-axis you'll notice them getting cut off if they're only the size of your work composition. Once those are set up plop your text layer in the middle of them. Make the snow layers that are 'closest' to you bigger and the snow layers in the background smaller. For an added effect use FAST BLUR on the snow layers that are big and up close. This will make them look out of focus and help sell your effect. Maybe even a slight glow would help. Also, if you have gotten your tax return back, spend it on Zaxwerks! It's 3d text (plus other cool 3d options) for those of us too poor to buy a separate 3D program! And if you're going to buy that, you might as well spring for CC's own Serge Hamad video tutorial, available thru the CC Master Series Collection.
