Animate Flame

Hey.

I know there are plenty of fire tutorials and plugins out there, but I have a particular pic I'd like to animate. It doesn't have to be anything extravagant, just stretch and fade some of the flames over a timeline. The only way I can think of doing it is making a bunch of layers in photoshop by stretching / smudging some flames and importing them into AE. Obviously, I'm quite the novice, lol! Any help is appreciated!

Thanks!

I was looking to animate this flame specifically, because it matches my other still graphics for a purpose. I do like the plugin you gave me, so I'll use that somewhere, but is there a way to make a few flames shoot off of this and evaporate?

Take a look at the settings for Turbulent Displace, I think you should be able to add a flame like distortion to your flame image with that effect.
