Keyframing Text Layer Contents

Gday guys,

I'm trying to animate a chat box with fictional content and rather than having a few hundred text layers, I could simply align one text to the bottom and hit enter for each new comment. My question is how does one keyframe the contents of this text layer such that I can control when each "return" happens?

When you expand the text layer settings on the timeline you’ll see there’s an property for source text. There’s a stopwatch next to it, meaning you can keyframe the text. The key frames can only be hold key frames. The text will jump from one stare to the next.

Hope that makes sense
