After years of doing mainly production jobs and hiring talented folks like yourselfs I went back to my roots and want to do some after effects again. To find much has changed and some things are the same.
Last week I was talking with someone who tried to explain me that you can create a Parallax Effect with masking layers on top of each other. It sounded to me like shadowing and bring elements from a drawing in front. But that wasn't it. I know how to create 3D from 2D pictures with photoshop and the clone stamp tool. But the techniques with the layer mask I didn't understand. It should be the same process as this 3D foto:
But isn't that the same? You still have to mask out the part you don't need and clone stamp the background. And next "paint" the details on a displacement map layer. Or I'm I missing some steps? Will look for tutorials with this information. Thanks!
