Tracking sky replacement with camera reframes
on Oct 8, 2019 at 11:07:37 pm

I shot an interview in a room with a cityscape in the background. The sky is completely blown out, because it was so much brighter outside than I could get it inside. I was able to replace the sky with a stock photo and it looks great, but I want to be find a way to get the sky to zoom in sync with my camera zooms so the illusion holds when the Frame changes. I'm editing in Premiere Pro and would love to be able to do it there, but I'm pretty sure it's a job for After Effects. Any ideas on how to do this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Is any of the sky trackable or is there zero texture available to lock onto?

There are clouds. No real distinctive features, but certainly some texture. I'm new to After Effects, so I'm not exactly sure of what constitutes trackable. I'm not married to the sky image I have if I need crisper details to make this work.

Right, so you may be able to track this in Mocha AE.

If you need a primer, this tutorial is a good place to start:

This tutorial covers Mocha Pro, but the basics are the same for the lighter Mocha AE version.

Thanks. I'll look into that.
