Parenting - coordinates changed to parent's top left value?

I think this is a pretty recent development and it's confusing as anything. Has anyone else spotted that when you parent one layer to another, the coordinates used to be based on the parent's anchor point and are now based on the layer's width and height?

For instance, I have two solids (both 1920x1080), one positioned directly above the other in 2D. If the top layer was parented to the bottom one, it's coordinates used to be 0, -200.

Here's a pic of what I'm trying to explain:

Has anyone else noticed this? I'm really hoping it's an odd setting I've managed to trigger.

Ignore this post. I’ve been using Null objects so much that I got use to the layer’s anchor point be the same as the 0,0 position.
