I've seen how the physics time factor of TC Particular can be utilized with audio and it would solve my problems. It's just that I don't have the money for Trapcode products. Is there any possible way to make CC Particle World do the same thing without too much work?
I don't think this would work, but it's worth a try.
Precompose your Particle World layer (making sure that you are moving ALL ATTRIBUTES into the precomp so the effect is now inside the precomp). Then, try applying time remapping to the precomp.
