Flowing Organic Lines (Merck Style)

Hi everyone.
Greetings from Porto, Portugal.

I am in need of some help with replicating the flowing lines seen in this video (

) from seconds 14 to 25.
I can manage to animate the lines using 3D Stroke or manually animating a mask shape but what is puzzling me is the flowing, organic, color changing nature of the line.
Any idea how i might go about achieving this?
Thanks

João Nuno

I think that example in particular was done with a 3d shape and an animated noise displacing the color on its texture.

You could also pull it off with 3d stroke. Just add a bunch and animate their offset and in/out points. That would give you some flow.

Thanks.
I have managed to get some very similar results with a combination of 3D Stroke, Roughen Edges and Matte Choker. I'm nearly there.

Conisdering the style of the rest of the video is with animating masks, it really looks like the same blobby shapes from the rest of the video..just squeezed into the shape of a curved path.. but how can that be done without plugins...hmmm
