I was wondering if there is any way to create a non exsiting short cut in after effects. I use shape layers a lot, and i'm tired of clicking Layer>New>Shape layer. Is there any way to make a shortcut for this command?
I have tried to write in the shortcut document, but that wont work.
As you can see, most of the other options do have a shortcut assigned to them, but not the "New shape layer" option.

Well, that's because in order to have a shape layer, you must define the actual shape of the shape layer before AE can even create it. This requires manual input. You don't have to do that with the other layers you can make in AE.
Expressions don't do manual input. So you're stuck.

unfortunately until the Ae Team will implement a shortcut assignment like other Adobe apps: Premiere, Illustrator and Premiere - we are stuck with what we got. please submit a feature request for a Keyboard shortcuts panel : http://www.adobe.com/products/wishform.html
