color channel to key individual elements

Hi there!
I use AE a a lot and can think of multiple ways of changing colors, but I was wondering if there's A way or a "right" workflow of changing color in clips such as:

where a "color" clip is provided
basically changing the colors...

Thanks!

Adam.

That looks like it's a some sort of an object id pass. You can key an object from the pass to get a clean matte to use for effects.

thanks for the reply!
i think i understand what you are saying, and if there are three colors , i imagine three precomps, one for each pass keyed and matted for color. but what would you suggest as a good workflow in such case?

thanks for any input.
adam.
