Looking to recreate this realistic photo paper effect in Frank Ocean - Nikes

Hey guys,

I was wondering if i could get any help at how to achieve this effect from the frank ocean Nikes music video.

https://vimeo.com/179791907
It happens at 0:25seconds in and 01:00minutes in.

It looks as if they have almost printing the frames onto some sort of photographic paper then scanned them in again. I was hoping to get your thoughts on re creating this? I know you could you a scratch overlay or something along those lines, but I really think this looks organic (realism is what we are going for here). And how would they achieve this splitting of the two images? I am guessing a mask, yet the line split in-between them looks very realistic.

Any advice would be very appreciated.

Thanks in advance

this looks like a mixture of techniques.

the first part 00:25 is porbably 2 steps:
1. either rotoscoping this cut probably frame by frame in photoshop video timeline or using a stock footage that has this cut in the middle as black and white and use this as a luma matte for your footage: http://www.shutterstock.com/video/search/film-burn, http://filmlooks.com/?mc_cid=6456288b9d&mc_eid=8c171cc1f5

2. a stock footage of dirt and scratches all over it.

the second part is the 1st technique
