Is there a way to have a precomp with multiple layers, some of which are set to Screen, some to Add, some to Multiply, and some to Normal - and then have them continue to behave that way on top of whatever the entire precomp gets put above?

Seems like they get screen/add/multiplied onto the bg color inside the precomp, and then that all gets put on top of everything as normal.

Yes. To allow layers within precomps to blend with layers in their containing comp, use Collapse Transformations:

There are caveats. Collapse Transformations changes the render order, so things like masks and effects applied to the precomp layer will not work as you might expect.

Nope, the blend modes only work inside a comp. Once you nest a comp in another, it behaves just like any other layer.
