Is there a way to quickly rotate a composition and all its layers quickly? Maybe a script that can swap the width and height values while simultaneously rotating all the layers within 90-degrees in either direction.

Thanks.

Assuming that precomping and rotating the precomp layer within a resized comp will not work for you for some reason, you could link everything to a null, rotate it 90 degrees, delete the null, and adjust the comp size.

My particular situation involves applying the Prolost Burns preset for a video slideshow, and every so often I'll get a picture that needs to be rotated. When I rotate the layer within the main comp, it messes up my effect, causing the scale amounts and center point within the effect not to respond correctly. I've found the easiest way to counter this is to precompose the picture, leaving the Burns effect in the layer in the main comp. I'd like to just quickly take the width and height in this new precomp and swap them while rotating the picture in the precomp. I know I'd essentially just be skipping a couple steps, but over time, making these precomps really adds up.

3 steps as opposed to 10, basically.

How about just rotating the pictures themselves in Bridge, Lightroom, or Preview?

I'm really just looking to see if there's a quick work-around inside After Effects.

There is not an off-the-shelf solution for this that I know of, but it would be a very simple script to write.

Maybe this will help -- uses EXIF metadata for rotation:
