Hi there,

I've been given the task to port a takeaway pizza menu onto a digital screen and have some basic animation on it.

Just for your information the screen is a 40" Samsung Signage TV 1920*1080 HD.
The digital version of the menu is a PDF at 4961*3508 at 300 Res.

As I don't have the PSD yet I've extracted several boxes of text out of the PDF and saved them into their own image folder and used them in AE.
The AE preview at 100% looks fine, but when rendered out at H264 with lossless and best quality when it's played on the signage TV, the words look 'broken'.

I'll try and explain what I mean:

This is 100% in Photoshop which is good quality: http://puu.sh/qw71u/6569b7d799.png
This is very similar to what the screen shows on the Signage TV: http://puu.sh/qw73a/8f5866ccc3.png

Thank you
Does anyone know how I can overcome this problem?

First thing to check -- make sure you're not rendering interlaced video. In the AE Render Queue, the comp's Render Settings should be set to Best Quality.

I did just check that but unfortunately it wasn't ticked anyway.

I'm beginning to suspect it's because the text is so small it's starting to cause this issue.

Yeah, those two small grabs made it tough to tell what the overall effect would be. I mean, if the grab from the video section was a huge portion of the screen, it's ugly. But if it's just a tiny part, it might look okay... after all, who looks at a video menu from six inches away? It's typically more than six feet!
