Creating type-able Fonts from AI Created Fonts

Hi,

I have a problem regarding a Font of a client:
It's complicated multi Colour Letters, which are created in Adobe InDesign.
Now, we have to use to letters to create words, which are then animated in AE.
The work around way would be to copy paste the needed letters into a new AI Document, arrange it to the right word and export it as e.g. PNG.
But it's gonna be hundreds of words.

I wonder: Is there a Script or Template, that can link a typed text to the correct PNG images of the right letter and arrange it automated to a word?

Thanx a lot.

Greetings,

Sascha

Ugh... that isn't going to be fun. Sorry, but AE only works with the usual kinds of typefaces.

To save a lot of work when the changes come, I'd create the necessary text at... oh, twice the size you think it should be. You can then reposition and resize ("can we make that word bigger?") without recreating the type.

Custom typefaces that "follow the rules" of every other typeface are one thing. Custom, MULTICOLORED typefaces are quite a different thing altogether.

It's not a script or template, but there is a way to get your Illustrator type designs converted to fonts. It's involved, and may not be worth the time (of course the client should be billed for the necessary conversion or the time it takes for the workaround), but you could use a number of available font editing programs to make the conversion - here's a good rundown on the tools and the process:
